Entertainment Showcase

Our grateful thanks to Arts Taunton and Tyca Youth Festival for allowing us to share some of the performances of young people in 2020 for your entertainment. Some of their relatives are Rotarians. And, it is inspiring to see how many interpret Caring for our World - see Message in a Bottle, Blue Weasel and JJ Hathaway in particular.

      Future Visions

Young Taunton based composer JJ Hathaway, seized the opportunity to create a specially commissioned film and music score for Tyca 2020.

JJ Hathaway, a young composer and musician from Taunton, has created this amazing composition as part of 'JJ Hathaway's Making Music for Film' project. Moved by current issues in our world, this talented young man has kindly given us permission to share this for your entertainment in the conference.
Taking the theme of the Tyca 2020 Festival: A vision of the Future, Josh collaborated with cinematographer Matthew Geer to create ‘ Future Visions’ a dramatically charged soundtrack to accompany the short film which brings into stark relief, the issues that we are facing now, both as local and global communities, juxtaposed with the enduring qualities of the natural world and ultimately of humankind.

Joshua Hathaway, (b.1998) is an English composer. He is also a clarinetist and pianist studying composition at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. His compositions stem from his improvisatory playing and immersion in nature. His music has been performed at various venues in the UK and abroad, including The Barbican, Milton Court, St David’s Hall, The OXO Tower, Southbank, Łódź Concert Hall in Poland, Silk Street Concert Hall and the Dora Stoutzker Hall.
Recently, Joshua was commissioned by the illuminated river foundation to write a large orchestral piece titled Increscent, which premiered on the river Thames in the unveiling of the project with Sadiq Khan. It was also recorded in the Barbican for a studio album and use in installations, streaming and Channel 4, ITN Productions. Illuminated River is an ambitious, new public art commission which will transform the capital at night, lighting up to 15 bridges on the River Thames. Once complete, it will be the longest public art project in the world, seen over 130 million times each year.
